Company Overview
Mental Health Resource Center is a not-for-profit Florida corporation that provides a wide range of mental health and behavioral health care services to the community. Services include 24-hour emergency services, inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents, and adults, as well as outpatient services such as medication management, case management, and counseling.

 Job Summary
The FACT Peer Specialist has personal, practical knowledge and experiences as a recipient of mental health services and is willing to share these for the benefit of the team and the persons served by the FACT team.  Provides support to individuals served by the FACT Program to reduce hospitalization, increase community tenure, and to enhance their independence, autonomy and quality of life.  A Peer Specialist promotes recovery, empowerment, self-determination and decision-making for each FACT participant.  
 
The FACT (Forensic Assertive Community Treatment) Program is a multidisciplinary clinical team that provides comprehensive, community-based services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The program is designed to reduce hospitalization, increase community tenure, and enhance independence, autonomy, and quality of life.
 
FACT team members provide a wide range of services, including advocacy, crisis intervention, assessments, treatment planning, case management, medication support, and coordination of care. Additional services include community referrals, symptom education, vocational and educational support, social skills development, and assistance for families and caregivers.
 
Most services are provided in the community, with approximately 15% of time spent in the office. Company vehicles are available; however, team members must also use their personal vehicles as needed and are eligible for mileage reimbursement.
 
The FACT team operates during and outside of standard business hours, including rotating weekend, holiday, and on-call responsibilities.
 
Responsibilities 
  • Assist individuals served in developing personal recovery and wellness plans, including the use of Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP). 
  • Provide peer coaching, recovery support, and wellness services in alignment with the FACT model and Assertive Community Treatment best practices. 
  • Participate in daily team and organizational meetings. 
  • Advocate for individuals served to help secure necessary services and supports, including medical, dental, legal, housing, and entitlement resources. 
  • Collaborate with individuals served to identify and access community resources related to education, employment, socialization, culture, and self-help groups. 
  • Provide side-by-side support with daily living activities, such as budgeting, grocery shopping, and household management. 
  • Support individuals in developing social, interpersonal, and independent living skills through coaching, recovery support, and trauma-informed care practices. 
  • Assist individuals served in developing problem-solving and coping skills to support long-term recovery success. 
  • Promote self-efficacy and recovery through strength-based role modeling and peer support. 
  • Complete required documentation accurately and within established timelines while maintaining confidentiality standards.

  • Reduces time spent on documentation, allowing more focus on client interaction and care 
  • Transforms brief notes or session conversations into complete, clinically appropriate documentation 
  • Supports accurate, compliant documentation while allowing staff to review and finalize notes 
  • Provides helpful insights from sessions to support care planning and continuity 
  • Accessible on desktop or mobile for flexibility across different work settings 
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Personal lived experience as a recipient of mental health services required.
  • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness preferred.
  • Must obtain, or actively work toward obtaining, Peer Specialist Certification within one year of employment.
  • Proficiency in the RBHS/MHRC Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Patient Information System demonstrated within three months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook and the use of the Internet.
  • Must meet MHRC/RBHS driver requirements, including a valid Florida driver’s license, required insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings, including homes, offices, hospitals, nursing homes, and secure units.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with individuals, families, providers, and team members.
Position Details
Full-Time and Part-Time shifts available 
Schedule: Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities
