Job Summary
The Clinician provides clinical and care coordination services to individuals enrolled in the Suicide Prevention Program. Responsibilities include conducting screenings and assessments, developing individualized recovery and safety plans, and providing individual, group, and family therapy. Services are guided by evidence-based practices, including the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS) and Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM), to support stabilization, reduce suicide risk, and promote recovery.

Responsibilities
- Conduct suicide risk screenings, biopsychosocial assessments, mental health evaluations, and safety planning.
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices, including CAMS and CALM.
- Facilitate stabilization through ongoing assessment, outreach, symptom management, and follow-up services.
- Provide assertive follow-up based on suicide risk, including face-to-face outreach following missed appointments when appropriate.
- Complete mental status examinations and assist during crisis situations. Licensed clinicians may complete professional certificates for individuals meeting inpatient admission criteria.
- Maintain knowledge of Florida Baker Act Statutes 394 and related procedures.
- Collaborate with internal and external providers to coordinate comprehensive care and treatment planning.
- Participate in 24-hour on-call coverage as part of the program’s crisis response services.
- Conduct outreach to hospitals, crisis units, shelters, emergency departments, and community providers to identify and engage eligible individuals.
- Coordinate transitions of care, including follow-up services and warm hand-offs for individuals exiting the program.
- Advocate for and coordinate access to community resources and support services.
- Complete documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related Human Services field from an accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with mental illness required.
- Experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness required.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in MHRC EHR System within three months of employment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and internet use required.
- Florida licensure (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT) preferred.
- Ability to make sound, independent clinical decisions, including recognizing and responding to risks and emergencies.
- Excellent customer service skills are essential and this individual must be able to interact appropriately with internal and external customers, including individuals served, families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff and other department professionals.
Position Details
This position is a Full Time Days position: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Mental Health Resource Center, Inc. (MHRC) is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of behavioral health and social services to the community. Included in MHRC’s service array are 24-hour emergency services and inpatient psychiatric services for children, adolescents, and adults. Outpatient services include medication management, care coordination, case management, intensive case management team services, counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation, an adult therapeutic family program, state hospital liaison services, mental health court, multidisciplinary forensic teams (MFT), jail-based diversion services, a Co-Responder Program with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, the Link-to-Life suicide prevention program, and services that assist individuals in obtaining benefits such as Social Security Income, Social Security Disability Income, Medicaid, food stamps, and housing. In addition, UF Health Jacksonville contracts with MHRC to manage the hospital’s adult inpatient psychiatric unit.
MHRC also operates eight Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) programs for adults with severe and persistent mental illness, located in Clearwater, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Kissimmee, Rockledge, Tampa, and Winter Haven, as well as a FACT Lite program providing Linking, Advocating, Treating, Transitioning, Empowering & Recovery Support (LATTERS) services in Jacksonville. The two FACT teams located in Jacksonville serve residents of Duval, Clay, and Nassau counties.
